Consuming an apple before mealtime can decrease your calorie ingestion at the meal by about 15% according to study. Those who took fresh apple fruits before lunch digested 185 calories less during the meal. This reduction of calorie intake could eventually shed 1.5 lbs per month equivalent to 20 lbs a year. If you include this practice before dinner then the benefits of losing weight is potentially doubled.

But if you pound candied apples, apple pie and spiced apple cake instead of the fresh wholesome fruit kind, then your weight will head in the other magnitude.

    Eating any type of fruit is good for you. Apples are quite filling so by eating one before meals your appetite should be reduced. If you have less appetite then you will eat less. You could also try hunger suppressants to reduce your appetite even more.
