Banana: Natural benefits and medicinal properties

Banana is known in the ayuverdic practice in India and Ancient Persia as nature’ secret of perpetual youth. To this day, the golden fruit is known for promoting tissue regeneration thus brings the feeling of youthfulness. It also promotes healthy digestion, retention of essential elements like calcium, phosphorus, and nitrogen.

For patients with intestinal disorder, banana is the recommended diet because of its soft texture and blandness. It is the only fruit that can be eaten raw without de-stressing chronic ulcer cases. It can neutralize the acidity of gastric juices preventing further irritation of ulcers in the stomach. Ripe banana is highly recommended as cure for ulcerative colitis.

Banana is also highly beneficial to people with constipation or diarrhea. Banana normalized colonic functions in the large intestines to absorb large amount of water for proper bowel movement. Banana is rich in pectin which is a useful remedy of constipation. Banana also possesses abilities to change harmful bacilli into useful acidophilus bacilli.

Arthritis and gout can also be subdued if you include banana in your die for 3 to 4 days. Patients are advised to take 8 bananas daily during the period of treatment.

Eating bananas on a daily basis is highly beneficial to people with the following illnesses:

  1. Dysentery – Adding little salt to mashed banana is an effective remedy for dysentery.
  2. Anemia – banana stimulates the production of hemoglobin due its richness in iron
  3. allergies such as ashtma, skin rashes, digestive disorders due to allergies
  4. Kidney Disorders such as uremia and nephritis
  5. Urinary disorders
  6. Over-weight - recommended at 6 pieces a day together with 4 glasses of skimmed milk for a period of 15 days
  7. Menstrual Disorders – cooked banana with curd or yogurt is an effective medicine for menstrual problems like painful menstruation and excessive bleeding. Banana flowers increase progesterone hormone which can reduce the bleeding.
  8. Burns and wounds can be given immediate relief by putting a plaster prepared by beating a ripe banana into a fine paste and spread over burns and wounds supported by a clean gauze. Banana shoots can also be used a cool dressing for inflammation and blister.
